First, the society:

The Jewish Single Malt Whisky Society started somewhere in my little head sometime back in 2009.  The problem I was having was that I had no friends whatsoever that really enjoyed whisk(e)y, just me.  While drinking alone is what many people do, I craved an outlet to talk about this lovely fluid, share notes, thoughts and just… discuss and discover the magic of whisk(e)y.  I was feeling too much like George Thorogood – I like my bourbon, scotch and beer but I was tired of drinking alone, all by myself.  So I said, “Dad-gum it, I’m going to start a society of local Jews who dig this fancy-ass sauce!”

Then, the blog:

Not only do I really-really dig tasting and discovering new whiskies, I enjoy reading about them and love to write down and share my own notes.  Granted, there are about 100 bazillion other whisky-blogs that have been doing this a lot longer (and better) than me, still, I like to write, meet new people, talk whisk(e)y so…there, I started a blog.

Why the “Jewish” Single Malt Whisky Society (and blog)? Well, I’m a Jew and so are many of our members. It seemed right when I started the group. This being said, you needn’t be Jewish to like or comment on the reviews. You just need dig whisk(e)y and I hope I can help!

What can you expect from the blog?:

While my main objective will be to do reviews, the idea will be to link these whisk(e)y reviews with different moods and/or seasons in which I find it would be best to drink/taste them.

Part of my job as the President and founder of the Jewish Single Malt Whisky Society is to find that one grand, be-all-end-all, bottle of whiskies and my plan is to write reviews of all drams tasted during this quest.

Additionally, I’ve made it a personal goal to transfer my passion and enthusiasm for whisk(e)y to you.  I hope I can do just that.

Thanks for visiting, commenting and bookmarking my whisk(e)y blog!

L’chayim/Slainte/Cheers!
